Where We’re From

Trinidad & Tobago is the southernmost island in the Caribbean; its nearest neighbours are Barbados to  the north and Venezuela to the south.

Trinidad & Tobago is the leading producer and exporter of oil and gas in the Caribbean region.  Oil and gas account for 40% of GDP and 80% of exports.  Other leading industries include financial services, telecommunications, and food and beverage manufacturing.

The country’s population of 1.3 million boasts a literacy rate of 92.8%.   Dr. Eric Williams, Earl Lovelace, V.S. Naipaul and Ramabai Espinet are among the acclaimed authors who hail from Trinidad & Tobago.

University of the West Indies has three campuses in the Caribbean, one is in Trinidad.  In 2004 the University of Trinidad & Tobago was founded, it has established seven campuses across the country.
